Common questions
I tap Start and hear nothing.
Check the ring/silent switch and the volume first: music apps follow the media volume, but a muted phone can still surprise you. Then make sure no other app is holding the audio, and that nothing on the Sound tab is muted (M) or soloed (S). If it's still silent, force-quit mõdRïff and open it again.
How do I connect a MIDI keyboard?
Pair a Bluetooth MIDI keyboard or controller with your iPhone first, then open mõdRïff and allow Bluetooth when asked. The app can also learn a knob or key: choose the control on screen, then move the one on your device.
Why does it ask for the microphone?
Only for the sampler, so you can record a sound to play. It is never on unless you start a recording, and nothing is uploaded. You can say no and use everything else.
Does it need the internet?
No. It works offline and never contacts a server.
Where is my music saved? Can I lose it?
Your songs live on your iPhone, inside the app. Deleting the app deletes them, and I can't recover them because I never have a copy. To keep something safe, export it (audio, MIDI or stems) and save it to Files or iCloud Drive.
How do I get my music out of the app?
Use Export on the Sound tab to bounce audio or MIDI, or to export stems, then send it to Files, Messages, AirDrop or any app that accepts audio.
What does "chromatic modal" mean?
You pick a key and a mode (major, minor, dorian and so on) and every part follows it, so everything you play fits. You can step outside the key whenever you want to, with borrowed chords and any-root chords.
I bought something and it's gone, or I got a new phone.
Use Restore Purchases in the app, signed in with the same Apple ID. If that doesn't do it, email me.
I found a bug.
Thank you. The app has a "Copy diagnostics" option that gathers what it knows about the problem. Paste that into an email along with what you were doing, and I'll chase it down. It contains nothing about you, only what the app was doing.
