Privacy Policy
The short version: mõdRïff does not collect, store on a server, sell or share any personal information. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party code in the app. What you make stays on your device.
Who I am
mõdRïff is made by Ben Handel, an independent developer in Southern Indiana, publishing as Dutdut Records. In this policy, "I" and "me" mean Ben Handel. You can reach me at support@modriff.com.
What the app collects
Nothing. mõdRïff has no user accounts and no server of its own, so there is nowhere for your data to be sent. It does not contain analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or attribution software, and it does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
What stays on your device
The app saves your work locally so it is there when you come back: your songs and setlist, patterns, sounds and patches, settings, and anything you record or import. This lives in the app's own storage on your iPhone. I can't see it. It is deleted when you delete the app. If you back up your iPhone with iCloud or a computer, Apple may include the app's data in that backup under your own Apple account, which is governed by Apple's terms.
Permissions the app asks for
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Microphone | Only when you choose to record a sample. The audio is turned into a sound inside the app and is stored on your device. It is never uploaded, and the app does not listen in the background. |
| Bluetooth | Only to find and connect Bluetooth MIDI keyboards and controllers you choose to use. The app does not use Bluetooth to learn anything about nearby devices or people. |
You can change either permission at any time in iOS Settings. The app works without them.
Things you choose to send out
You can export audio, MIDI or stems, or share a song, using the iOS share sheet and Files. That content goes where you send it, to the app or person you pick. I don't receive a copy. What those services do with it is covered by their own policies.
Purchases
If the app offers in-app purchases, they are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. I don't see your payment details, your name or your Apple ID. The app only learns, on your device, whether a purchase has been made so it can unlock what you bought.
Internet use
The app is built to work offline. Its sounds, fonts and code are inside the app. It does not contact any third-party server.
This website
This site is static pages. It has no cookies, no analytics, no forms and loads nothing from other companies. Like any website, the host (GitHub Pages) may keep ordinary server logs, such as IP addresses, under its own privacy statement. I don't have access to them. The browser version of mõdRïff, if you use it, behaves the same as the app: it stores your work in your browser, on your device, and sends it nowhere.
Children
mõdRïff is a music tool and is not directed at children under 13. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, there is no child's data to collect, keep or delete.
Your rights
Since I hold no data about you, there is nothing for me to access, correct, export or delete on my side. To remove everything the app has stored, delete the app. If you are in a place where privacy law gives you specific rights, you may still write to me and I'll answer.
Changes
If this ever changes, for example if a feature needs a server, I'll update this page and its date before the change ships, and the App Store privacy details will be updated to match.
